John the B

Currently doing a little study about John the Baptist, the last of the Old Testament prophets, a real ascetic of his day.

"an ascetic life": austere, self-denying, abstinent, abstemious, self-disciplined, self-abnegating; simple, puritanical, monastic; reclusive, eremitic, hermitic; celibate, chaste.

"a desert ascetic": abstainer, puritan, recluse, hermit, anchorite, solitary; fakir, Sufi, dervish, sadhu; archaic eremite.

How can the practices of an ascetic life be relevant to Christians today? I believe that there's a lot to learn from the benefits of such a lifestyle.

Hmm.

True practices of asceticism surely is the only way to
gain salvation,as it have been from the beginning until the end of time.
known to other schools of though as,self-
realization plus God-realization,the finding of the Christ,
whatever forms or names we chose to give this great science/art
in this life does not necessary change it essence.
The Grace of understanding which most Christians are lacking
is as a result of willingly ignoring this lifestyle which
is very much need on the path back home.
